A total of 50 rounds are fired during the proficiency demonstration at a local gun range. In order to qualify for your LTC, a score of 70% or greater is required, or 175 points out of a possible 250 points. Most people far exceed this minimum score. The following is a breakdown of the course of fire:
3 Yard Distance:
- 1 shot in 2 seconds (x5)
- 2 shots in 3 seconds (x5)
- 5 shots in 10 seconds (x1)
7 Yard Distance:
- 5 shots in 10 seconds (x1)
- 1 shot in 3 seconds (x5)
- 2 shots in 4 seconds (x1)
- 3 shots in 6 seconds (x1)
- 5 shots in 15 seconds (x1)
15 Yard Distance:
- 2 shots in 6 seconds (x1)
- 3 shots in 9 seconds (x1)
- 5 shots in 15 seconds (x1)
Scoring
8,9, 10 and X rings: 5 pts
7 Ring: 4 pts
Within silhouette / outside rings: 3 pts
Outside silhouette: 0 pts
In order to pass, you need to score at least 175/250 or above.
